Q: If I pay court-ordered alimony to my former wife and I currently also have a wife, can I claim tax relief for the alimony paid and wife relief at the same time?

A: The tax relief for the alimony paid to former wife and wife relief share the same RM4,000 limit. As such, if you have claimed wife relief of RM4,000 you cannot claim relief for the alimony paid anymore.
